Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons black loose tea leaves Assam or Darjeeling works well
  • 3-4 cardamom pods crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 1- inch fresh ginger sliced
  • 2-3 cups water
  • Sugar to taste
  • Condensed milk or evaporated milk to taste

Instructions

  • Boil Water: Start by bringing the water to a boil in a pot.
  • Add Spices And Tea Leaves: Once the water is boiling, add the crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, cloves, and sliced ginger. Let it simmer for a few minutes to allow the spices to infuse into the water.
  • Add Tea Leaves: Add the black loose tea leaves to the pot. Let it simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.
  • Sweeten: Add sugar to taste. Yemeni tea is often on the sweeter side, so you may want to add a decent amount of sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add Milk: Finally, add condensed milk or evaporated milk to the tea. The amount of milk depends on your preference. Some people like it with a lot of milk for a creamier taste, while others prefer less. Stir well.
  • Strain And Serve: Strain the tea into cups to remove the tea leaves and spices. You can use a fine mesh strainer or a traditional Yemeni tea pot with a built-in strainer.
  • Enjoy: Serve the Yemeni tea hot and enjoy the rich, spiced flavors!
