A handful of fresh jasmine flowersapproximately 8-10 flowers
2cupsof hot waterabout 180°F or 82°C
Optional: honey or sugar for sweetness
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare The Jasmine Flowers
Start by plucking fresh jasmine flowers from your garden or purchase them from a trusted source. Make sure they are pesticide-free and organic for the best flavor and aroma.
Rinse the jasmine flowers gently under cold, running water to remove any impurities.
Step 2: Selecting The Green Tea
Choose a high-quality loose-leaf green tea for this recipe. Sencha or Dragonwell green teas work exceptionally well with jasmine flowers due to their fresh and slightly grassy flavor profiles.
Step 3: Scenting The Tea
Place the green tea leaves in a clean, dry tea infuser or teapot.
Add the freshly rinsed jasmine flowers to the tea leaves.
Gently shake the infuser or teapot to mix the tea leaves and jasmine flowers.
Step 4: Brewing
Heat the water to approximately 180°F (82°C). Water at this temperature is perfect for green tea, as it prevents bitterness.
Pour the hot water over the tea leaves and jasmine flowers.
Cover the teapot or infuser and let the tea steep for about 3-4 minutes. Be mindful not to overstep, as it can result in bitterness.
Step 5: Serving
After the steeping time is up, carefully remove the infuser or strain the tea into your teacup.
If you prefer your tea sweet, you can add a teaspoon of honey or sugar, stirring until it dissolves.
