Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags or 4 teaspoons loose leaf black tea
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest optional
  • 2 tablespoons honey or sweetener of choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Milk or cream optional, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Boil The Water

  • Begin by bringing 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot. Using fresh, filtered water will ensure the best flavor for your tea.

Step 2: Add The Spices

  • Once the water is boiling, add the cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, whole cloves, star anise, and orange zest (if using). Let the spices simmer in the boiling water for about 5 minutes to infuse their flavors.

Step 3: Brew The Tea

  • After the spices have simmered, add the black tea bags or loose leaf tea. Allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes, ensuring the water has absorbed all the rich flavors from the tea and spices.

Step 4: Sweeten And Flavor

  • Remove the pot from heat and carefully strain the tea into a teapot or another container to remove the spices and tea leaves.
  • Add honey or your preferred sweetener, stirring until fully dissolved. For an extra layer of flavor, stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5: Serve And Enjoy

  • Pour the hot cinnamon spice tea into mugs. If you prefer a creamier tea, add a splash of milk or cream to each cup.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy the warming, aromatic flavors of this delightful beverage.
