Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons black tea leaves or 2 tea bags
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger thinly sliced
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 1 small star anise optional
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • Honey or sweetener of choice to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare The Ingredients

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Slice the ginger thinly to release its flavor. If you’re using loose-leaf tea, have a strainer or tea infuser ready.

Step 2: Brew The Spiced Water

  • In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Add the ginger slices, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise (if using). Reduce the heat to low and let the spices simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Add The Tea

  • Add the black tea leaves (or tea bags) to the saucepan. Simmer for another 3-4 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
  • Turn off the heat and strain the tea into a teapot or directly into mugs.

Step 4: Sweeten And Serve

  • Stir in the molasses and sweetener of your choice. Adjust to taste.
  • Pour the tea into your favorite mugs and enjoy it while it’s warm.
