Start by gathering all your ingredients. Slice the ginger thinly to release its flavor. If you’re using loose-leaf tea, have a strainer or tea infuser ready.
Step 2: Brew The Spiced Water
In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
Add the ginger slices, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise (if using). Reduce the heat to low and let the spices simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Add The Tea
Add the black tea leaves (or tea bags) to the saucepan. Simmer for another 3-4 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
Turn off the heat and strain the tea into a teapot or directly into mugs.
Step 4: Sweeten And Serve
Stir in the molasses and sweetener of your choice. Adjust to taste.
Pour the tea into your favorite mugs and enjoy it while it’s warm.
