Ingredients

  • Black tea leaves or 2-3 black tea bags
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of milk dairy or non-dairy alternatives
  • Ice cubes optional
  • Tapioca pearls optional for bubble tea lovers

Instructions

Brewing The Perfect Tea Base

  • Boil The Water: Start by boiling the water in a saucepan.
  • Steep The Tea: Turn off the heat once the water reaches a rolling boil. Add the black tea leaves or tea bags, and let them steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.
  • Strain And Cool: Remove the tea bags or strain the tea leaves. Let the tea cool to room temperature.

Creating The Brown Sugar Syrup

  • Caramelize The Brown Sugar: Add the brown sugar and a quarter cup of water in a separate saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar completely dissolves and starts to thicken into a syrup.
  • Combine With Tea: Once the syrup is ready, mix it into the cooled tea.

Assembling The Drink

  • Add Milk: Stir in the milk until well combined. You can adjust the quantity of milk based on your preference for creaminess.
  • Serve Chilled: Add ice cubes to your serving glasses and pour the brown sugar milk tea over them for a refreshing touch.
  • Bubble Tea Variation: If you’re a bubble tea fan, add cooked tapioca pearls to the bottom of each glass before adding the ice and tea.
