If you’re using fresh Holy Basil, gently rinse the leaves to remove any dirt. If you’re opting for dried leaves, measure out the required amount.
Step 2: Boil The Water
Heat the water in a pot until it boils. If you’re aiming for a milder flavor, you can reduce the heat just before it reaches boiling point.
Step 3: Add Holy Basil To The Water
Once the water is hot, add the Holy Basil leaves. If you’re using fresh leaves, tear them slightly to release their essential oils.
Step 4: Let It Simmer
Reduce the heat and let the tea simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes. The flavor gets stronger the longer it simmers.
Step 5: Strain And Serve
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the tea into your favorite cup. At this point, you can add honey or a sweetener of your choice and a slice of lemon if you like.
