Instructions
Step 1: Boiling Water
Begin by boiling fresh water. You’ll need about 1 cup of water per serving. Make sure the water is at a rolling boil, as hot water is essential for extracting the full flavor and benefits of catnip.
Step 2: Preparing The Catnip
While the water is heating, measure out 1-2 teaspoons of dried catnip leaves for each cup of tea you plan to make.
Step 3: Steeping
Place the catnip leaves in a teapot or a heatproof cup. After the water comes to a rolling boil, cover the catnip leaves with it.
Cover the teapot or cup with a lid or saucer and let the catnip steep for 5-10 minutes. Steeping time can be adjusted to your preference, with longer steeping resulting in a stronger flavor.
Step 4: Straining
After steeping, use a fine mesh strainer or tea infuser to strain the tea into your serving cup. This will remove any remaining leaves and ensure a smooth cup of catnip tea.
Step 5: Flavoring (Optional)
Add honey, lemon, or mint leaves to taste, if desired. These additions can enhance the flavor and provide additional health benefits.
